Dheeraj Kumar/Madhepura. There are hundreds of tea shops in Madhepura district of Bihar. People come to every shop here to drink tea. But, Roshan Tea Stall located in Murliganj of the district is not only a 52 year old shop, but even today the taste remains the same. Old is gold here. Actually, Nageshwar Mandal has been selling tea at Mahavir Chowk in Murliganj for 52 years. There is a steady stream of customers here throughout the day to drink tea. This is the reason why 40-50 liters of milk tea is sold here every day. This tea shop has become a landmark on Saharsa-Purnia Road. Although the name of the shop is Roshan Tea Stall, but it is famous among the customers as Mandal ji’s shop.
Talking to Local 18 Bihar, Roshan Tea Stall operator Nageshwar Mandal said that he has been selling tea in Murliganj for 52 years. He tells that he started selling tea in a small hut at the age of 12. Today, his is the most famous tea shop in Murliganj. 500 to 700 cups of tea are easily sold every day. Everyone from laborers to officers come here to drink tea. Apart from this, passengers traveling on Saharsa-Purnia route also stop and sip tea.
Daily consumption of 50 liters of milk
Nageshwar Mandal says that his shop runs so well that he also has two sons to help him. Now they are the ones who devote more time and are taking the shop forward. According to Nageshwar, when he started, he used to sell tea at Rs 2 per cup. Today tea is sold for seven rupees in disposable and 10 rupees in kulhar. 500-700 cups of tea are easily sold every day. On an average, 40-50 liters of milk and one and a half kilos of tea leaves are consumed. Up to 80 liters of milk is consumed during marriages.
